FAQs - Answers to All Your Tire Service Questions

If you need new tires in Cincinnati, visit Jeff Wyler Hyundai of Fairfield. With our Tire Match Guarantee, you'll always get the best price for the best tires for your car. Here are a few of the most common questions we get:

What are the different types of Tires available?

While our Tire Center can find any tires on the market, the most common types of tires we sell are all-season, winter, summer, and performance tires. What type you have installed is a conversation to have with your service technician. They can find the right size and type for your driving style and seasonal conditions around Norwood.

How do I choose the right tires for my vehicle?

The first step is to get the right size tires; this information can be found on the current tires and confirmed by a plaque inside the driver's door. The type of tire depends on your vehicle and the season around Mason. A performance car will want summer tires in warmer weather and switch to winter tires for colder months. All-season tires are a good choice for daily drivers.

What do the numbers on the sidewall mean?

The series of numbers and letters on your tire indicate the type of tire and the size. You commonly see a P for passenger, although LT for light truck is also common. The number next to the P is the tire's width in millimeters. The next two numbers are the aspect ratio of the sidewall height to the width. Next, you'll see an R for radial, the construction used to make the tire. Rarely you'll see D for diagonal or B for belted, but these are specialty tires. Next is the rim size in inches. After that is the load rating; the larger the number (up to 125), the more load the tires can take. Finally, the speed rating is T, which is most common with a speed rating of up to 130 mph. Speed rating can vary from A being the lowest to Y being the highest.

How often should I rotate my tires?

Typically, you should rotate your tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. Every oil change is an easy way to keep track of rotations for drivers from Hamilton.

When Should I replace my tires?

After 10 years, spare tires are often considered non-serviceable. However, it would help if you inspected the spare every so often to check for cracks or other signs of damage like bulging.

What are the signs that I need new tires?

If the tread is less than 1/16th of an inch, you should replace your tires; that's to the top of Lincoln's head from the side of a penny. Most tires also have indicator bars in the tread; if those are wearing, you need new tires. Any cracks or bulges should also be immediately addressed.

How do I check my tire pressure?

If your car doesn't have remote pressure sensors built in, you can check by placing a tire pressure gage against the valve stem, that is, the small black tube coming out of the rim.

What is the difference between run-flat tires and regular tires?

Run-flat tires either have reinforced sidewalls or a hard insert that allows the tire to be driven on at low speed in the case of a puncture. Regular tires will simply go flat.

What are the benefits of tire balancing and alignment?

Balancing your tires and aligning your wheels keep your tires wearing evenly so you have to replace them less often. It also reduces vibrations, prolonging the life of other parts of your car. Balancing your tires and aligning your wheels also makes for a quieter drive. Balanced tires and aligned wheels also improve handling and fuel economy. All of these combined to make for a safer driving experience.
